Andy Trim U.K (Tobe)
As a teenager Andy Trim was introduced to the London Jazz scene after playing with british jazz legends such as Humpfrey Littleton, Danny Moss and Brian Lemon. It was Johnny Barnes and Digby Fairweather that gave him the opportunity to play with american artists such as Charles McPherson, Gene ‘Mighty Flea’ Connors and the New York All-Star Nathan Davis at the Pizza Express and 100 Club. This early introduction to the London jazz scene gave Andy the opportunity to perform with Peter King, Don Weller, Art Themen, Bobby Wellins, Steve Melling, Alan Skidmore, Jim Mullen, Jim Watson, Dave O’Higgins, Martin Speak, Alan Barnes, Mornington Lockett, Dick Pearce, Julian Siegel, John Etheridge, Damon Brown, Ed Jones, Robert Mitchell, Zoe Rahman and Jason Rebello. After performing in Italy supporting the Joe Zawinul Syndicate a chance meeting with international bass player Avishai Cohen turned into a long-term friendship whereupon Avishai invited Andy to stay with him in New York. This allowed Andy the opportunity not only to perform in the City but also to further his knowledge of the drums with musicians such as Jeff Ballard, Eric McPherson and Mark Guiliana.
Andy’s playing has evolved well into the 21st Century and has developed a unique style and voice which celebrates the new approach to Jazz as well as a retrospective reverence to its history. It is with his tasteful and charismatic approach and his musical finesse and dynamic style that has earned him the reputation of one of London’s most respected drummers .
